Yet another Apple patent has been discovered, that shows off a curved glass design that looks suspiciously like it’s destined for the iWatch.
Rumours are rife that the iWatch could appear as part of Apple’s iPhone event next month. You can read our round up of the latest iWatch rumours to get yourself up to speed.
The files, found by Patently Apple, don’t assign the technology to a specific device, which is often the case with patent finding. However, the curved glass panel is touch sensitive, which would make it perfect for a wrist worn device.
Eagle-eyed Apple aficionados will spot that Apple’s Magic Mouse uses technology similar to this, but that device was released in 2009 and this patent wasn’t submitted until 2010.
A large part of the patent refers to the aspects of a visual display, using the curved glass. It seems that a fair amount of problem solving has been done to get the display and curved screen working together:
In the patent notes, Apple stated: "In addition, visual distortion of the display, due to the curved cover surface can be reduced."
